Rocketing across the border to the Buckeye State, Detroit Cass Tech junior defensive end John Baker committed to Toledo this week.
Baker (6-6,210) held SEC and ACC offers from Kentucky and Louisville, respectively. He also pocketed bids from West Virginia, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Miami (OH), Bowling Green, Kent State, Buffalo, Northern Illinois and Ohio University. Depending on the scouting service, Baker is either the No. 4 or No. 5 edge rusher in the MHSAA’s Class of 2025.
Cass Tech finished 7-4 last fall, eventually losing in a D1 district final matchup 36-25 to eventual state champion Southfield A&T. Baker will enter his senior campaign as the second-best pure defensive end prospect in the PSL behind Detroit King’s Xavier Newsom.
