Football Recruiting Notebook: DCD’s Bergin Balls His Way To The Ivy League. Picks Penn

The Ivy League just bagged a baller. Northwestern should be jealous. I’m just saying!

Birmingham Detroit Country Day senior linebacker Aiden Bergin committed to the University of Pennsylvania last week giving the Quakers a high-value, high-character tackling machine for its Class of 2024. He collected 101 tackles and 5 sacks last season at DCD.

Versatile and ultra hard-hitting, Bergin (6-2, 220) is a pure wrecking ball sideline to sideline and a natural leader. Other Ivy League schools, like Princeton, Dartmouth and Colombia were in the hunt for his services. His big brother, Chris, also a prep standout at DCD, starred as a linebacker in the Big Ten at Northwestern.

Go North, young man!

Roseville senior running back B.J. Weathersby recently committed to Northwood. Weathersby combines slippery quickness with rugged toughness. Don’t be shocked if a DI program enters the picture before Signing Day next winter. Last fall, Weathersby rushed for 1,235 yards and 12 touchdowns.
