Following The Leader: LTU Gets MAC Red Field General Crum From Coach’s Old Conference

After four years of dodging sugar dimes from “Pinpoint Preston,” he can now take pride in them and cheer the downfield mastery.
Brand new Lawrence Tech football coach Scott Merchant is looking to a highly-respected former opponent to be his quarterback of the future in the college ranks. Utica Eisenhower senior signal caller Preston Crum committed to LTU last week, joining former Chippewa Valley head coach Merchant with the Blue Devils in Southfield. Merchant was hired for his first college coaching gig last month after more than two decades coaching prep pigskin.
Crum (6-2, 195) was a four-year starter under center at IKE and leaves as one of the most accomplished stat mongers in program history. Last season, he threw for 2,126 yards and 25 touchdowns for an Eagles team that finished 9-2 and captured an MAC Red championship.
