The Westside’s best two-way football player reached his boiling point last week
As in the point in time he found himself compelled to become a Boilermaker for life
Before his club’s Week 5 loss to undefeated Byron Center, Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central senior safety=wide receiver and Mr. Football candidate Ty Hudkins committed to Purdue.
Earlier this month, Hudkins de-committed from Northwestern. Originally, Hudkins was recruited to Evanston by Pat Fitzgerald, who lost his job as head coach of Wildcats Nation due to a hazing scandal back in the summer.
Hudkins (6-1, 180) is the second-highest ranked free safety in the MHSAA and a leading candidate for the 2023 Mr. Football. He helped lead GRFHC to an appearance in the Division 2 state championship game last fall and is clocked at 4.4 speed.
GRFHC is 4-0 so far in the 2023 campaign. As a junior in 2022, Hudkins posted 96 tackles, 2 picks and 10 pass breakups.
