Via Scott Burnstein – The Ivy League is dipping back into the Catholic League Central football recruiting pool and coming after Dante Banks (Detroit U-D Jesuit 6-3 Jr. WR) and Axel Newell (Orchard Lake St. Mary’s 6-4 Jr. QB).

Banks scooped offers from Cornell and Penn in recent weeks. He’ll replace Blue-Chipper Elijah Dotson (transfer to Belleville) as the Cubs top receiving option in ;24.

Cornell offered Newell last week. He threw for 1,878 yards and 20 touchdowns in his first year starting in the CHSL last season after coming into the league from Ovid-Elsie.

Ivy League programs have always feasted on CHSL Central gridders and next fall Warren De La Salle senior safety Kandakai Sherman will be playing his college ball at Cornell in upstate New York.
