The steal of the century may be a Southfield split end on the gridiron.

Southfield A&T senior wide receiver Tashi Braceful committed to the University of Toledo this week, spurning the Big Ten, the ACC and the Big 12 to jump across the border to the Mid-American Conference’s “Rocketville” in Ohio. The smooth 6-foot-2 route runner with wheels and work ethic collected more than two dozen offers over the past year, including bids from Minnesota, Maryland, Duke, Boston College, Kansas, Purdue, Pitt., Louisville and Cincinnati.

Braceful is a member of one of the most prolific pass catching troops in the MHSAA. Along with fellow DI recruits Juwan Jarrett and Xavier Bowman, the A&T receiving corps makes sweet music through the air stretching the field with Warriors all-state quarterback Isaiah “Zeke” Marshall (Kansas). Last season, Braceful caught 11 touchdowns.

“Toledo just scored a stud, Tashi does it all at his position and is FBS-caliber,” said A&T head coach Aaron Marshall of his star wideout.
