Oak Park – The boys and girls track and field teams at Oak Park won state titles in Division 1 last season and the Knights will contend for a repeat in both again this spring.

And here are four reasons why.

Four track athletes announced on Thursday which Division I schools they will attend in the fall.

Cameron Cooper, who owns the second fastest indoor time in the 800-meter run, signed with Louisiana State. Cooper is the defending state champion in the event. He also competes in the mile and two relays.

Tamea McKelvy is a sprinter and she signed with Texas. In addition to the 100 and the 200 dashes, McKelvy also competes in the two sprint relays.

Bryce Pickett, the salutatorian, competes in the 200 and the 400, plus two relays, and he signed with Michigan.

Carlita Taylor, the valedictorian, competes in both hurdle events, plus two relays, and she has been accepted to Columbia University in New York City.
