DETROIT - Westland John Glenn trailed Detroit King through three quarters of tonight's girls basketball quarterfinal, but led after the one quarter that mattered the most.

The Lady Rockets defeated the #1 team in the state, Detroit ML Kimg, 55-50 behind the strong play of the Bankster sisters and DePaul commit She'Kia Graves (18 pts). John Glen will now advance to the State semis at the Breslin Center.

John Glenn trailed King 46-44 heading into the final quarter, but a 4th quarter surge led by She'Kia Graves provided the momentum for "the close". The Lady Rockets opened the 4th on a 7-3 run to gain a 53-50 lead with 1:59 remaining. King had an opportunity to score, or even tie the game, but the ball was stolen by Graves who was fouled on the following lay-up attempt. Graves converted both free throws to seal the 55-50 victory.

"When I stole the ball I knew the game was over, but I couldn't celebrate just yet", said Graves with a smile.

ML King led 27-19 at halftime but missed free throw and lay-up opportunities allowed John Glenn back into the game. The Lady Crusaders failed to score at all in the final two minutes of the game. Junior forward Mart'e Grays led King with 18 points, and 5 rebounds.

" That loss was heartbreaking. We had it in our hands", said Grays. "I could have made my lay-ups and free throws, and rebounded better".

Twins Raven and Raine Bankster added 17 and 16 points respectively for John Glenn, in addition to 18 by Graves. Another DePaul commit Antania Hayes finished with 11 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists for King.
