FRIDAY’S FOOTBALL ROUNDUP: Adams downs Lathrup for first win; Farmington edges Oxford in overtime; Holly routs Clio

ROCHESTER ADAMS 28, SOUTHFIELD LATHRUP 7 — After an uncharacteristic 0-3 start, Rochester Adams finally reached the win column Friday with a 28-7 OAA White Division victory over Southfield Lathrup. Locked in a 7-7 draw at the half, the Highlanders fired up 21 points in the final two quarters to prevail over the Chargers (1-3, 0-3). Clarence Broadnax scored the first, third and fourth touchdowns for Adams (1-3, 1-2). Broadnax scored on runs of 12, 53 and 3 yards and finished with 16 carries for 168 yards for Adams. Matt Sokol added a 10-yard scamper and finished with 115 yards on 18 rushes for the Highlanders. Brit Skinner kicked four extra points for Adams.

FARMINGTON 19, OXFORD 13 (OT): Farmington scored the only points in overtime, as Connor Mohr scampered into the end zone on a 5-yar run to lift unbeaten Farmington to this thrilling OAA White Division victory Friday over the visiting Wildcats. Farmington (4-0, 3-0) trailed 6-0 at the half but scored six in the third quarter and seven in the fourth quarter. Mohr scored on a 4-yard plunge but the conversion failed in the third quarter. Mohr added a 1-yard run and Luke Dennis had the extra point in the fourth quarter for Farmington. Kyle Anderson haled in a 1-yard pass from Glacier Wallington in the second quarter and Mitchell Tilley had a 85-yard kickoff return in the fourth quarter with Josh Nelson booting the extra point for Oxford (2-2, 2-1), which played an overtime game for the second straight week.

HOLLY 49, CLIO 13: Holly bounded back after an 0-3 start with this lopsided win Friday over winless Clio. Johnny Williams returned the opening kickoff 85 yards for the score and the Bronchos rolled ro a 42-p13 lead by the break. Holly (1-3, 1-3) scored its other touchdown in the third quarter. Austin Chumura had a 30-yuard field goal and hit five extra points for Holly, which scored 35 points in the second quarter to break the game open. Williams added touchdown runs of 50, 60 and 72 yards for Holly and finished with more than 200 rushing yards for the Bronchos. He also added a 67-yard pass to Evan Papuga and a 3-ard strike to Kyle McCarty. Luke Reynolds had Holly’s final touchdown on a 5-yard run. Aaron Huff scored on runs of 10 and 18 yards for Clio (0-4, 0-4).

LIVONIA CLARENCEVILLE 28, ROCHESTER HILLS LUTHERAN NORTHWEST 6: The Crusaders dropped to 2-2 with this non-league loss to the Trojans.

MAYVILLE 44, AUBURN HILLS OAKLAND CHRISTIAN 17: Mayville used a 28-17 first half to open up a lead they would not relinquish in this non-league win Friday. The Tigers outscored the visiting Lancers 16-0 in the second half. Chris Polite had a 64-yard touchdown catch, returned a kickoff 59 yards, kicked a 53-yard field goals with two extra points and recorded an interception for Oakland Christian. Javarian Smith scored on a 9-yard run and also had the 64-yard heave to Polite. Stephen Nichols had 15 tackles and Josh Rupright added 14 tackles for the Lancers (1-3).

AUBURN HILLS AVONDALE 34, INKSTER 14: These two programs are headed in opposite directions, as Avondale won for the fourth time this season at the expense of Inkster, which remained winless. Josh Holloman ran for 112 yards on 15 carries and had two touchdowns for Avondale (4-0).Holloman, a sophomore, scored on runs of 19 and 3 yards for Avondale, which led 14-6 at the half and 21-6 after three quarters before piling on 13 points in the fourth quarter. Michael Johnson added a 1-yard run and JT Ozerities hauled in a 11-yard strike from Spencer Smith for the Yellowjackets. Chris Lalla, a transfer from Oxford, chipped in a 2-yard run for another score for Avondale (4-0). Lineman Mitch Williams had eight tackles and one sack for Avondale. Jamal Roper had a1-yard plunge and Jared butler collected a 7-yard scoring toss from Stephen Butler for Inkster.
