Four touchdown effort from Gates leads Southfield to upset win over King, 40-12

DETROIT - Ironically, the last time Southfield and Detroit King played each other, it was the first round of the Division 2 state playoffs. The Bluejays won that game, 22-19. Fast forward two years later, and much was the same, with Southfield trouncing King, 40-12, to advance.

The win was Southfield's third in a row over King, and a huge win for a Southfield team that needed another signature win. 
"We don't talk about past years, just like we don't talk about tomorrow, only today," said Southfield head coach Tim Conley. "That's just how we are. It would do a disservice to these guys. They are maybe the best team's I've coached,
