Dominic Lutz of Livonia Stevenson named Warrior Sports 2012-2013 High School Hockey Player of the Year

Dominic Lutz, a Junior at Livonia Stevenson High School, was named the 2012-2013 Warrior Sports High School Hockey Player of the Year in Michigan.

Dominic helped lead Livonia Stevenson to a Division 2 State Championship for the first time in the 43 year history of the school’s hockey program, and the first hockey state title for the city of Livonia which has three public high schools. Dominic finished the season with 43 goals, including two in the State Championship game, and 78 points overall. Dominic made the Division 2 “Dream Team” this year and is now a two-time 1st team all stater.

“This means a great deal to our school, the alumni, our city, the recognition is outstanding for him and we couldn’t be happier” said Stevenson Hockey Head Coach David Mitchell.

“In my opinion, when we saw him play some of the best competition this year, Dominic was the best player on the ice.  Make no mistake, this decision was very difficult, but we felt Dominic deserved it.  He’s an amazing player with a shot like a canon.”  said Lorne Plant Executive Producer and Host of STATE CHAMPS!.

“It really says something when our Final 4 candidates all made it to Compuware this season.  That is a testament to their leadership and performance.  And although all were deserving, to me, Dominic Lutz stood out in the biggest game of the year, and that says a lot.”  said Sean Baligian of the STATE CHAMPS! selection committee.

“I saw last weekend that I made the Final Four and so I was hoping maybe I had a chance.  I’m proud to follow last year’s winner Mackenzie McEachern of Brother Rice.  That’s big shoes to fill, and we’ll see what happens next for me.”  said Dominic Lutz.

"Dominic represents what Warrior is all about.  He’s tough, he can score, he’s a leader and deserving of this honor.” said Steve Silver, brand marketing manager for Warrior Hockey.

Warrior Sport and State Champs! Network also want to congratulate Charlie Green of Detroit Catholic Central who collected the highest fan votes in the competition, as well as the other two finalists in the Final Four - Alex Alger of Cranbrook and Brian Bachnak of Riverview.  Our candidates received a total of over 250,000 votes in this season-long competition!
