Detroit Catholic Central football coach Tom Mach retires after 41 years

Novi – On Thursday morning, Detroit Catholic Central high school announced that after 41 years, Tom Mach is retiring as the school's head football coach.

Mach retires with the fourth most wins in MHSAA history and finishes with a 370-97 career record as head coach of Catholic Central, which includes guiding the Shamrocks to 10 state championships in his 41 years and 17 state championship game appearances.

Mach, who also spent 34 years as a Health and Physical Education Teacher at Catholic Central finishes his career with 21 League Championships and 17 Catholic High School League Championships during his time with the Shamrocks.

The Shamrocks finished the 2016 season with a 13-1 record and a CHSL Championship, with the only loss of the season coming at the hands of Detroit Cass Tech in the Division Final.
