Traverse City lineman transfers to New Jersey Catholic school, remains committed to Michigan StateFootball  |
Traverse City – Michigan State commit Thiyo Lukusa has transferred from Traverse City West to DePaul Catholic in Wayne New Jersey.
Lukusa is 6-5 and weighs 305 pounds. He plays offensive tackle and despite the transfer will still honor his commitment to MSU according to West coach Tim Wooer.
“It was not totally surprising to us,” Wooer said. “We wish the family well and we wish (Lukusa) well.”
Wooer said Lukusa moved with his father to New Jersey.
Wooer also said as difficult as it will be to replace a player with the ability that Lukusa has, West will still be a formidable team this season.
“We’ll be fine,” Wooer said. “We return eight on offense and seven on defense, and have a Division I player in (tackle) Jacob Cerny.”
Cerny is 6-5 and 280 pounds, and is being recruited by Cincinnati among other schools.
West was 5-5 last season as it lost to Rockford 20-14 in the first round of the Division 1 playoffs.Tweet
