FOOTBALL RECRUITING: Close to 50 D1 commits dot the state heading into the 2012 postseason

With the 2012 MHSAA football playoffs set to get on its way this weekend, the state currently boasts 45 prepsters committed to Division I colleges. Seventeen of those secured scholarship offers hail from BCS schools.

Here's an alphabetical breakdown of the committees.

Mycial Allen (DB Detroit King) Northern Illinois

Tenacious secondary stud, a steal at safety for NIU

Josh Bass (OL BC Harper Creek) Eastern Michigan

In-your-face line prospect at guard that probably should have been more heavily recruited

Jaleel Canty (DB Lansing Everett) Cincinnati

Lockdown cornerback prospect who is a master at jumping routes

Pete Cender (TE Howell) Air Force

6-foot-5 tight end prospect who is a very sound blocker and route-runner

Jesse Chadwell (OL Clarkston) Illinois

As technically-sound as any line prospect in the state

Mark Chapman (ATH Port Huron) Central Michigan

Pure playmaker of an athlete who plays quarterback in high school, but is expected to shift to wide receiver at the college level up in Mount Pleasant.

Clark Clancy (OL AH Avondale) Bowling Green

Hard-working and versatile in the trenches

Josh Cox (CB Warren De La Salle) Central Michigan

Energetic and active defensive back with excellent cover skills

Zach Crouch (TE GR Christian) Central Michigan
