Detroit U-D Jesuit 2016 PG Cassius Winston commits to Michigan State

Detroit – As expected, senior guard Cassius Winston of U-D Jesuit made his commitment to Michigan State at his high school following a pep rally on Friday.

Winston, a 6-1 point guard who is also adept at playing the shooting guard, recently had narrowed his choices to three, MSU, Pittsburgh and Stanford.

On Sept. 9 Winston took Michigan off of his list of schools.

Winston is the leading candidate for the 2016 Mr. Basketball award. He led the Cubs to the Class A semifinals each of the past two seasons. U-D also captured the Catholic League championship in each of his three seasons on varsity.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Check back later for Tom Markowski's Full Story on Winston's commitment. Also, tune into the State Champs! High School Sports Show on Sunday Morning at 9:00 am on Fox Sports Detroit for video coverage of Winston's decision.
