On Tuesday night, Chippewa Valley 2016 WR/DB Stefan Claiborne committed to Western Michigan University according to Scout.com’s Allen Trieu, choosing the Broncos over Toledo and Iowa.

Claiborne was originally committed to the Broncos, but decommitted from Western Michigan in January of 2015 to reopen his recruiting.

Claiborne is considered a 3-star recruit according to Scout.com and Rivals.com and is currently on the Hungry Howie’s Mr. Football Next 5 Watch-List.

Last season, Claiborne helped lead the Big Reds to the Division 1 state semifinals and an 8-4 overall record. This season, Chippewa Valley currently has a 5-2 record and can clinch a playoff spot on Friday night with a win over L’Anse Creuse North.

Claiborne joins a 2016 recruiting class for Western Michigan that has 12 players from the State of Michigan.
