The Drive For Five – Top 5 Former Michigan HS Football Players in the NFL DraftFootball  |
With the NFL Draft quickly approaching here are the Top 5 NFL Draft Prospects who are from the state of Michigan. (No Order)
Malik McDowell – Detroit Loyola/Southfield DT
McDowell was a dominant force on the defensive line in high school and that didn’t change when he got to the college level. Now, after deciding to leave East Lansing after his junior season, McDowell is regarded as one of the top defensive line prospects in the NFL Draft. McDowell is projected as a first round draft pick.
Josh Jones – Walled Lake Western DB
A difference maker all over the field during his time at Walled Lake Western, Jones could do it all for the Warriors and was a ball-hawking, hard hitting safety at North Carolina State. Since declaring for the NFL Draft, Jones has shot up NFL Draft boards and is considered to be a Top 5 safety. Look for Jones to go in the second round of this year’s draft.
Taylor Moton – Okemos OL
A road-grading offensive lineman in high school, Moton went on to become a stabilizing force on the Western Michigan offensive line, which has led to him being regarded as one of the top interior line prospects in this year’s draft. Many believe that Moton will go off the board at some point in the second round.
Desmond King – East English Village Prep
One of two lockdown cornerbacks who come from the state of Michigan in this year’s draft, King shut down opposing receivers throughout his high school career and that didn’t change once he arrived at the college level playing for Iowa. After a dominant junior season in 2015, King followed that up with another strong effort as a senior and that has him slotted to be a second round pick next week.
Jourdan Lewis – Detroit Cass Tech DB
Another shutdown corner that the PSL produced a few years back, Lewis was a centerpiece of a dominant Cass Tech defense that would win two straight state championships and was a shutdown cornerback and playmaker in Michigan’s defense in recent years. Lewis is projected to be drafted in the second or third round.Tweet
