The Drive For Five: Five X-Factors for this weekend's Football Regional FinalsFootball  |
With teams across the state hoping to advance to the MHSAA Football semifinals, these are players that could have big games to lead their teams to wins this weekend.
Max Dean, Lowell RB – Against a tough, physical Muskegon defense, Lowell’s tough-nosed bell cow will have to step up in a big way if the Red Arrows are going to move on to the semifinals.
Bryce Wolma, Saline TE – Friday’s game against Canton could be a high-scoring one and if it is, look for Wolma to have a big game. A big target for quarterback Josh Jackson, Wolma has proven to be a mismatch for opposing defenses all year long and could prove to be a mismatch again on Friday night.
Jacob Prokes, Walled Lake Western RB – By now, most know about just how dangerous the Western aerial attack is, but the Warrior’s ground game isn’t anything to forget about and Prokes is a big reason why and could be a key factor again on Saturday.
Nate Boleware, East English Village Prep RB – Boleware scored the crucial go-ahead touchdown in East English’s round one win over De La Salle with just 14 seconds left. Could he do the same in the regional final against Detroit King?
Clay Senerius, Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes QB – Expect plenty of points in Saturday’s game against Michigan Lutheran Seminary and Senerius could be a big reason why. Last week it was Chris Cartier scoring six touchdowns for the Lakers, this week, it could be Senerius putting up big time stats to lead Lakes to a win.
