St. Clair Shores Lake Shore hires Popp as new football coachFootball  |
Following five straight losing seasons, the St. Clair Shores Lake Shore football program has found itself a new coach and one who’s been no stranger to a winning environment.
Birmingham Brother Rice offensive coordinator Rich Popp, who was an assistant coach on several of Brother Rice state championship teams, has been tabbed to take over as the sideline general for the Shorians.
Popp served as the quarterbacks coach at Brother Rice during its run of winning three straight Division 2 State Championships in 2011, 2012 and 2013 and coached current Michigan quarterback Alex Malzone.
During Popp’s 11 years with the Brother Rice program, the Warriors won four Division 2 titles.
Lake Shore finished the 2015 season with a 3-6 record and hasn’t made a playoff appearance since finishing 7-3 in 2009.
The Shorians open the 2016 season on August 26th against rival St. Clair Shores South Lake.Tweet
