Rapid Reaction – Top Performances from Algonac’s 13-0 win over Almont on Friday night.

The Defense – It’s hard to find a better overall performance from the second round of the playoff than what the Algonac defense was able to do against Almont. The Muskrats pitched an impressive shutout against an Almont offense that was averaging close to 35 points per game entering Friday night’s district final.

A.J. Garshott (QB) – The Algonac signal caller was dangerous with his arm and his feet on Friday night as he tallied a late rushing touchdown to seal the win for the Muskrats and also made key completions on third and fourth downs all night long.

Maison Graham (DT) – Graham was a force all night long from the defensive line, giving the Almont offense no time to get its passing game going and recorded two key sacks in the second half, including one to bring up fourth down and force an Almont Punt in the third quarter.

Shane Asselin (RB) – The Muskrats’ tough-nosed running back was a huge factor all night long running against a stout Almont defense as he scored on a 3-yard touchdown in the first quarter to give Algonac a 7-0 lead and also picked up important first downs on the final scoring drive to keep the clock moving.

Scott Barnhart (HC) – You have to give credit to the Muskrat head coach and coaching staff for the impressive turnaround that 2015 has been for Algonac. One year after finishing 1-8, the Muskrats now find themselves preparing for the third round of the Division 5 playoffs with a spot in the semifinals on the line.
