Girls Basketball All-Breslin Team

With the 2016 girls basketball season officially over after the state finals last weekend at the Breslin Center, here is the All-Breslin team with the top performers from the semifinals and finals:

 

Kierra Fletcher – Warren Cousino
Fletcher was a force to be reckoned all weekend long, first scoring 37 points in a semifinal win over Hudsonville and followed that up with 27 more points in the state championship game win over King to bring Cousino the first girls basketball state title in school history.

Mecaela Kelly – Detroit King
Kelly turned in an impressive state championship game performance on Saturday, scoring a game-high 34 points to lead the Crusaders in the loss. Kelly also scored 18 points in a Class A semifinal win over St. Johns.

Nastassja Chambers – Ypsilanti Arbor Prep
Chambers was unstoppable in the Class C semifinal win over Ithaca on Thursday night, scoring a game-high 24 points to lead the Gators to their first ever girls basketball state championship game. The Arbor Prep senior then scored 14 points in the state championship game to help win the school’s first ever state title.

Nicole Tucker – Marshall
Nobody made a bigger shot than Tucker at the Breslin Center last weekend. Tucker knocked down two free throws with 1.4 seconds left to play in the Class B semifinals and her 14 points helped lead the Redhawks into the Class B final. In the Class B final, Tucker scored eight points in Marshall’s state championship win.

Maddie Clark – Pittsford
Clark followed up her impressive state semifinals and finals performance in 2015 with another stellar performance in this year’s trip to the Breslin, scoring a combined 47 points and tallying a total of 26 rebounds to lead Pittsford to its first ever state title.

Mackenzie Anderson – Warren Cousino
The lone senior on Cousino this season, Anderson may have saved her best for last on Saturday afternoon as she scored 20 points and six rebounds in the state championship game, helping Cousino win its first ever basketball state championship.
