Elite 8 - Top Eight Performances from Round 2 of the MHSAA Football Playoffs

8. Tony Poljan Poljan, Lansing Catholic QB
Poljan’s only subpar performance of the season came in Week 4 against Portland and when Poljan face Portland again in the second round of the playoffs, Poljan wasn’t going to let the same thing happen again. Poljan threw for 165 yards and two touchdowns on 12-of-17 passing and also added 62 rushing yards to lead Lansing Catholic to a 21-14 win.

7. Ozzy Corp Ishpeming QB
Corp did it all on Friday for Ishpeming as the senior signal caller rushed for over 100 yards on Friday night and also recorded 170 yards and three touchdowns through the air to lead the Hematites to a 24-14 win over Iron Mountain.

6. Mike Robb, Midland Dow WR/DB
Robb was a jack-of-all trades on Friday night as he helped lead the Chargers to a blowout win over Fenton. Robb tallied seven catches for 114 yards and two touchdowns on offense, and also recorded an interception on defense and had a blocked punt on special teams.

5. Ba Blamo, Grand Ledge RB
The senior running back couldn’t be contained on Friday night as Blamo rushed for 194 yards and two touchdowns on just 18 carries to lead Grand Ledge to a 45-21 win over Brighton.

4.  Ryan Stevens, Lowell QB
Stevens was nearly impossible to stop on Friday night as the senior signal caller threw for over 300 yards and two touchdowns as the Red Arrows rolled past Byron Center.

3. Nick Capatina, Detroit Catholic Central RB
Capatina has emerged as the go-to running back for Catholic Central and proved to be a nightmare for the Novi defense in Friday’s district final. Capatina rushed for 223 yards and three touchdowns on just 17 carries to lead the Shamrocks to a 42-28 win over upset-minded Novi.

2. Jacob Clark, Livonia Franklin RB
Just about everyone knows just how explosive the Livonia Franklin offense is by now, and previously unbeaten Jackson found out the hard way on Friday night. The Patriots scored 63 points in the win and Clark was a big reason why. Clark rushed for 267 yards and four touchdowns to help pace the Franklin offense in the upset.

1. Chris Cartier, Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes RB
Cartier was a forced to be reckoned with on Friday night as the senior running back rushed for 220 yards and recorded six total touchdowns to lead the Lakers to a 54-29 win over Sterling Heights Parkway Christian. Five of Cartier’s touchdowns came on the ground and the sixth was a receiving touchdown.
