Hamze Elzayat burst onto the scene this season with Dearborn Fordson, becoming a do-it-all quarterback, while leading the Tractors to an impressive 7-0 start to the season and is now one of the Top 10 members of the Hungry Howie’s Mr. Football Award.

Through seven weeks of the season, Elzayat has already thrown for over 1,200 yards and rushed for over 700 yards and has nearly 25 total touchdowns on the year.

Elzayat’s strong play this season earned him plenty of attention on the recruiting scene, as he holds offers from Army and Navy and has had interest from several other Division 1 schools as well.

If Elzayat keeps up this kind of production, there’s no doubt that he will continue grabbing the attention of Division 1 schools, and there’s a good chance that Elzayat will still see offers from more Division 1 schools by the time National Signing Day.

But that likely won’t matter, because earlier this week Elzayat announced his college decision, committing to Fordham, turning down offers from Bryant and Colgate, along with the service academies.

The first reaction of many (myself included) is that Fordham is getting an absolute steal in the recruiting game, getting a commitment from a versatile athlete who will be able to be a difference maker on offense, defense and special teams at the college level.

Elzayat is capable of playing several different positions because of his speed and athleticism, but wherever he ends up playing, Fordham is getting the definition of a playmaker and he will make a big time impact for the Rams.
