Ann Arbor Pioneer all-state senior outside linebacker Antjuan Simmons de-committed from Ohio State this week, while Pioneer’s Cedric Benton (wide receiver) and Farmington Hills Harrison’s Brendann Brown (inside linebacker) committed to Grand Valley State University and Southern Illinois University, respectively. Simmons is a 4-star recruit. Benton is a killer in the slot and well versed at making tough grabs going across the middle. The barrel-chested Brown is versatile and demonstrates a consistent high motor pursuing ball carriers sideline to sideline.

Iowa came into this week and offered Detroit U-D Jesuit juniors Elijah Collins (slotback) & Carlos Vetterello (offensive lineman). Both Collins and Vetterello had breakout campaigns on the gridiron this fall. Collins is a standout on the school’s defending Class A state-championship boys basketball team.

Last week, Rockford junior quarterback Jason Whitaker scooped a scholarship offer from Northwestern. Whitaker is the top-rated dropback passer in the state’s Class of 2018 prospecting crop.

Recently-crowned state champion Donovan Peoples-Jones of Detroit Cass Tech, the state’s No. 1 recruit in the senior class and one of the most devastating deep threat wide receivers in the nation, will be visiting Florida State this weekend. The NOTORIOUS DPJ has narrowed his college choices down to FSU, Florida, Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State. He's ranked a 5-star recruit and coming off a state finals (49-20 trucking of Detroit CC) where he filled the stat sheet with 6 catches for 118 yards and 2 touchdowns.
