In-state football recruiting round-up for the Mid-American Conference:
Essexville Garber junior wide receiver-tight end Ben Vansumeren has committed to Western Michigan.
As a sophomore, the fast and sturdily-built 6-foot- 4, 225-pound Vansumeren caught 13 touchdowns and over 800 yards worth of balls. This past fall, he hauled in 775 yards through the air and had eight touchdown grabs (another six on returns and carries out of the backfield too).
Orchard Lake St. Mary’s senior defensive lineman Jack McCarthy and Warren De La Salle senior quarterback Ricardo Marble will be preferred walk-ons at Bowling Green next fall. McCarthy leaves his St. Mary’s career on the prep gridiron with three state-championship rings (Division 3).
West Bloomfield junior quarterback Bryce Veasley recently picked up a Buffalo offer. He led Oakland County in passing in 2016, throwing for 2515 yards and 22 scores.
Walled Lake Western sophomore offensive lineman Spencer Brown just collected an offer from Western MichiganTweet
