Former Saginaw Heritage star Brian Cole gaining attention at defensive back with 'Last Chance U'Football  |
Just a couple of years ago, Brian Cole was regarded one of the top players in the state of Michigan during his time at Saginaw Heritage high school. Cole was rated as the No. 3 ranked player in the State Champs! Preseason Player Rankings in 2014 and was committed to Michigan as a part of the Wolverines’ 2015 recruiting class.
In his time at Michigan, Cole saw the field as a freshman, appearing in three games for the Maize and Blue, but left the Michigan program after the 2015 season.
So now, Cole is currently enrolled at East Mississippi C.C., a high profile community college, which has been featured in the Netflix Original Series called ‘Last Chance U’, trying to find a new school to land with as he goes forward in his academic and college careers.
EMCC has been known to produce several high level Division 1 players, including the likes of current Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly and Auburn quarterback John Franklin III. The Lions have also sent several players to the NFL, including New England Patriots’ running back LeGarrette Blount, after he finished his college career at Oregon and San Francisco defensive lineman Quinton Dial, who finished his college career at Alabama.
Cole originally started as a wide receiver with the Michigan football program, but is now playing safety at East Mississippi C.C., as he’s beginning to gain the attention of schools nationally once again.
Through five games with the Lions, Cole has tallied 29 tackles and two fumble recoveries, including one returned for a touchdown as he’s helped East Mississippi out to a 4-1 record this season, leading to him recently picking up an offer from Oregon State, and more offers will follow.Tweet
