The top quarterback in Macomb County, Wittwer, a three-year starter, led Eisenhower to a MAC Red title and an appearance in the Division 1 semifinals last year. Getting the job done with his arm and his legs, he racked up 1,900 yards and 21 TDs passing, and 920 yards and nine TDs on the ground in 2016. Wittwer suffered a knee injury on Oct 6 and played just three downs in a 52-0 victory over Utica on Oct. 27. Wittwer’s season is over. In his last full game, on Sept. 29, Eisenhower defeated Macomb L’Anse Creuse North, 42-0, and Wittwer, in just over one quarter of action, was 6-for-10 passing for 125 yards and three TDs. For the season Wittwer is 44-for-64 for 1,027 yards, 11 TDs and one interception. He has 47 carries for 264 yards and four TDs. “He’s a complete team player,” Smith said. “As far as being competitive, he’s one of the best.” Eastern Kentucky and Eastern Michigan have offered him a scholarship, and Wittwer has been accepted by the Air Force Academy. He has a 3.83 GPA.
