Thanks to MetroPCS for sponsoring Mr. Football 2012 and to our Winner - QB Travis Smith of Ithaca!

The 2013 Mr. Football Contest has ended, thanks to everyone who helped support their players by voting!

Congratualtions to our 2013 MetroPCS MR. FOOTBALL FINAL FOUR (below) and our 2013 Michigan Mr. Football Winner - Travis Smith of Ithaca!!!

Alex Malzone

Alex Malzone

Brother Rice  | Junior - Quarterback

Our only Junior in the Final Four, Alex got on our radar week one when Rice knocked off Ohio power St. Ignatius and looked good doing it.  Since then, seemingly with ice in his veins, Alex led back to back game winning drives to beat De La Salle and Catholic Central.  A talented baseball player, it's becoming clear, quarterback is most probably his future at the next level.  Division 1 interest in growing.  Brother Rice is into the Regionals again following a win over Seaholm.  Heading into this weekend Alex was 129/196 passing for 1,928 yards and 14 touchdowns. 39 carries for 35 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Damon Webb

Damon Webb

Cass Tech  | Senior, Defensive Back / Wide Receiver

Our people’s champion, Damon won the online vote with over 41,522 votes.  Ranked as one of the top10 defensive backs in the country, Webb has been selected to the U.S. Army All-America game and is ranked number 6 nationally.  Damon is also the No. 3 recruit from the state of Michigan, both according to the 247Sports composite.  Cass Tech is still in the hunt for a third straight Division One State Championship as they knocked off previously unbeaten Warren Mott to get back to the Regionals.

Kyle Bambard

Kyle Bambard

Walled Lake Western  | Senior - Quarterback / Kicker / Punter

Although a late entry into the Mr. Football race, Kyle still received the 3rd most votes and deserves to be in the Final Four.  And although his season is now over, the Warriors gave Detroit Catholic Central everything they could handle in the D-1 District Championship.  Kyle Bambard burst onto the scene as a kicker in 2011 when he knocked a game tying long field goal against Lowell in the Division 2 State Semifinals.  Considered by many as the best kicker in the State, Kyle is ranked in the top 10 nationally in some polls.  His career best is a 52 yarder he kicked against Brother Rice in last year's playoffs.  But don't underestimate his talent at QB.  He recently received an offer from Grand Valley State.  Heading into this weekend, his QB stats stack up with almost anyone:  99/167 passing for 1531 yards and 20 touchdowns. He had 133 carries for 1325 yards and 13 touchdowns.  As a kicker, 44/45 in PAT's & 11/17 Field Goals with longest at 49 yards.

Travis Smith - WINNER!

Travis Smith - WINNER!

Ithaca  | Senior, Quarterback

The man under center for the last two years, Smith has guided Ithaca to two of it’s last three Division 6 State Championships and the school’s winning streak is now 53 games as Ithaca is back to the Regionals once again.  As a junior, Smith threw a school-record 39 touchdown passes and led the way to a school-record 675 points. He completed 152-of-246 passes for 2,457 yards, while rushing 142 times for 900 times and another 14 touchdowns.  Smith had received scholarship offers from Central Michigan, Kent State, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Old Dominion, and Western Michigan before verbally committing to Toledo.  This season has been great again.  Heading into this weekend:  108/145 passing for 2,207 yards and 28 touchdowns, and 43 carries for 413 yards and 7 touchdowns.
