Michigan High School Hockey Player of the Year Contest 2019!

Michigan High School Hockey Player of the Year Contest 2019!

Thanks to our great friends at National Coney Island for sponsoring the 2019 Michigan High School Hockey Player of the Year Contest!

Voting for the 2019 Michigan High School Hockey Player of the Year contest - sponsored by National Coney Island – is now over!

Congratulations to all of this year's contestants on their terrific seasons, and to our FINAL FOUR candidates below!!

Tune in to State Champs! High Sports Show - Michigan this Sunday at 9 am on Fox Sports for the announcement of the Michigan HS Hockey Player of the Year winner, along with our good freinds at National Coney Island!

Unlike other state-wide awards, this is the only one that allows the Michigan fans to weigh in! However, winning the popular vote does not make you the contest winner - the winner of the online vote is automatically entered into the Final 4, and their chances of winning is increased by 20%.

The criteria that will be used to select the 2018 HS Hockey Player of the Year will be:

30% -  Performance Throughout Season
20% -  Level of Competition
20% -  Online Vote
15% -  Big Game Performance
10% -  Team Success
 5% -   Highly Recruited Athlete

Throughout the season, our media analysts will be monitoring performance, updating player statistics and adding new candidates into the contest as their actual play and performance merits, with a goal of keeping the ten best hockey players on the board. Toward the end of the contest, we will close online voting and select our Final 4 candidates.  The final award selection and presentation will take place in March with our good friends at National Coney Island!!

And finally, while you are totally enjoying the Winter  Sports Season - don't forget to grab a few friends and head to one of National Coney Island's 20 great restaurants across SE Michigan!

Zach Robinson

Zach Robinson

Brownstown Woodhaven  | Senior - Forward

What Coaches are saying: "Zach has grown so much as a player since he first came on the Michigan High School scene.  Anyone who thinks he is only a goal scorer has not seen him play much lately.  He has grown into a 200 foot player and a leader for his team.  The fact that he is able to produce at the level he does, knowing that other teams are scheming to stop him, only speaks to Zach's level of play and dedication to his team." - Anonymous Michigan Developmental League Coach.

Rylan Clemons

Detroit Catholic Central  | Senior - Forward

What they are saying: "His play-making ability has caught up to his skating, and he has become absolutely dangerous all over the ice, as the pace of the game changes when he is out there. He was off the charts at the showcase, and when you look at the numbers he is putting up on the season, he was a guy we all wanted to see at the showcase, and he did not disappoint." - Anonymous North American Hockey League scout

Sam Evola

What Coaches are saying: "Great Goaltender, Great kid, outstanding competitor.  He accomplished everything last year, and still decided to come back to his school and Michigan HS hockey.  That says a lot.  He has the skills, the demeanor and the determination to do it all again, and carry it on to the next level, he's a high end prospect for sure." -Anonymous Michigan Developmental League Coach.

Cam Blanton

What Coaches are saying:  "Smart and skilled defenseman who excels at jumping into the play to create scoring opportunities. His greatest attribute is the strength of his skating, which allows him to play good defense and become an offensive threat" - Chad Clements, Head Coach Trenton.
